SAS (Slot Accounting System) is a protocol used between gaming machines and casino host systems. It is used in many of the major casino markets, and considered a standard of casino communication. The protocol is created and maintained by IGT and was initially a means to automate meter reporting and event logging. SAS Protocol has since gone through many updates to now support functions like bonusing, ticketing, cashless gaming, and player tracking.
