ASEAN Gaming Summit 2019

The 3rd annual ASEAN Gaming Summit was an amazing event. Day 1 featured stimulating keynote speeches by billionaire Jay Walker and blockchain tech promoter Earle Hall. Hosted by good friend Daniel Cheng formerly of Hard Rock, it was nothing other than an honor to be speaking on the same stage as these gentlemen.

This year’s panel featured two of the biggest IR’s in the Philippines, Okada Manila and Resorts World Sentosa, as well as the two big gaming giants IGT and Aristocrat. It was also a reunion of sorts for myself and Jerry Chan of Okada Manila, the resort having improved in every aspect since the opening I took part in more than 2 years ago.

Sandy from RWM brought up how manufacturers have overlooked Philippine-themed games, and how there is a demand for such content as the market grows.

Jerry reiterated how the link progressive is the current way to go, but also was open to funding for newer projects and game concepts.

Lloyd mentioned how Aristocrat has been balancing their proven content and new content, making sure to always try new things even during times of success.

Michael touched upon the hardware aspects and how IGT uses player focus groups on their development.

In all, it was an informative and hopefully interesting panel for the audience. The feedback was great, and the event as a whole was the usual success we’ve come to expect. Cheers to another great event in Manila.
