G2E Asia@The Philippines: Conference on Gaming Innovation

The first ever G2E Asia@The Philippines event took place at the Marriot Manila earlier this month. With a massive typhoon heading Manila’s way, it was important to fly in a bit early before flights were canceled.

The exhibition floor itself was not to spacious, so it seemed as if you were always bumping into someone while walking around. Most of the major land-based casino manufacturers were in attendance, but surprisingly few online gaming companies decided to exhibit. Perhaps that makes sense as most of the companies working under a POGO license are sub-licensees and have no need for marketing more than the company that provides them with market access.

Regardless, many local operators and stakeholders visited the site as it was the first time they had access to such an event in their homeland.

The G2E Dinner Gala had a Philippines touch, with lots of music and entertainment.

It was once again an honor to be invited to speak on gaming innovation at the conference, which had an amazing group of people presenting. Our panel covered new innovations in gaming, and with the other speakers picking up on blockchain, skill-games and regulatory needs for innovation, the topic I picked up on was actual examples of how innovation has changed the gaming floor.

It will be very interesting to see how this event affects G2E Asia in Macau and if anyone will join in on ICE Manila in June next year. Philippines is a massive market that is still growing, so we’ll soon see if it is ready for more in the gaming industry exhibition front.
